Our colleges are nearby to each other, with Wellesley at one time being a sister school of MIT. We met during the summer of our sophomore year when Ana stayed as a summer boarder at Daniel’s fraternity, Pi Lambda Phi. We became friends that summer, and remained as such throughout college. After graduation, Ana moved to Rochester to begin the MD/PhD program at the University of Rochester while Daniel stayed in Boston to finish his Master's degree and work at SiteAdvisor. Though we were in different cities, we remained in touch as friends. During the summer of 2006 Daniel visited Ana in Rochester in response to her plea for help painting her house. It was during this weekend that Daniel finally worked up the courage to ask Ana out. We joke that power washing Ana's house was our "first date".
